As we age, the risk of falling increases, with falls the most common cause of hospitalised injuries in Australians over 65 years old¹.
Understanding the risk factors that contribute to falls and learning how to improve home safety, can make a big difference when it comes to feeling more confident and managing daily activities.
Inspiro’s Occupational Therapy team has launched ‘Active and Independent’, an interactive education group that provides knowledge and tips on how to keep safe from falls and maintain independence at home.
During the group sessions, participants gain awareness of falls risk, learn strategies on how to get up after a fall, and are shown demonstrations of assistive aids. The team can also support the group to access services at Inspiro and in the community, and it can be an opportunity to receive additional information about the aged-care system.
To enquire about our Active and Independent group, please get in touch with our team via hello@inspiro.org.au or by calling (03) 9738 8801.
