Vicki Doherty

Vicki has more than 20 years’ experience in the public, not-for-profit and government sectors. She is currently the Executive Director of the Australasian Menopause Society (AMS) – a member-based organisation of healthcare professionals with an interest in midlife women’s health. Prior to working at AMS, Vicki led the implementation of the Victorian Government’s Palliative Care Policy in Gippsland across the primary, acute and community health sectors. She spent five years working for the Commonwealth Government’s Department of Health and Ageing at an executive level leading primary care policy after spending many years working in women’s biomedical research.
Vicki has extensive skills and experience in strategic planning, policy and program management. She has qualifications and experience in governance, quality and risk, as well as developing and delivering education for healthcare professionals.
Vicki brings a wealth of experience in working within government, implementing health policy and developing and delivering programs to meet government expectations. She has a health research background, with many peer-reviewed publications and promotes evidence-based practice. She has implemented health programs across the primary, acute and community health sectors and pioneered health education in midlife women’s health. With her qualifications in public health, Vicki is committed to the community health model initially described in Alma Ata in 1978 where physical and mental health, as well as social wellbeing is a fundamental human right, and works within the community and advocates to government to make this a reality.
