Morning Move for Mind
An 8-week program for primary schools to help students increase their physical activity, improve mental wellbeing and learn positive coping strategies.
Morning Move for Mind (MM4M) is a fantastic program that health promoters can use to increase physical activity and improve mental health in primary school kids. Put simply, kids learn a range of wellbeing strategies they can use in their everyday lives all while being active.
There are three versions of the program, for which language and content has been adjusted accordingly:
– Grades 1-2
– Grades 3-4
– Grades 5-6
Using a ‘train the trainer’ model, MM4M includes a series of lesson plans and a range of practical resources. The program also supports the Victorian Government’s Respectful Relationships curriculum.
MM4M involves an in-person teacher training session, a free starter pack that includes everything schools need to run the program, and all necessary resources for program evaluation.
In 2023, Morning Move for Mind was a finalist in the VicHealth Awards in the category of Outstanding Health Promotion Programs.
