Make a difference and become part of a vital government initiative called the Mental Health & Wellbeing Locals, which focuses on care and support for people aged 26 years and over who are experiencing mental health concerns – including people with co-occurring alcohol and drug treatment and care needs and their family, carers, and supporters.
The Team leader – Towards Change role is full time, ongoing and based mainly at our Lilydale site.
As part of this collaboration, we have joined with Wellways, Eastern Health and Oonah to provide a local mental health service for all, which is driven by the values of lived experience, inclusivity and partnership.

About the role:
The Team Leader – Towards Change is employed by Inspiro, however this is a joint role, sharing leadership of the Towards Change team with an Eastern Health employed Team Leader.
While a number of the Towards Change clinicians will have a direct line of reporting to this Team Leader role, the overall leadership and management of the team is shared (with the joint Team Leader) to ensure an integrated and efficacious approach to clinical service delivery within the Local.
The role requires a skilled mental health clinician and people leader with experience in effectively leading teams and building an inclusive, values driven culture. People with personal lived experience of mental health and/or substance use challenges and recovery are encouraged to apply.
You will play a vital role in ensuring that consumers, carers and their families receive valuable and supportive mental health care, ensuring the person with lived experience is at the centre of all we do. The role will support the development of service delivery, including the establishment of collaborative models of care focused on peer-based supports, service navigation, single session therapies and family and carer programs.
Position Responsibilities:
- Working collaboratively in the Yarra Ranges Local leadership team to contribute to the development of the program and champion person-centred, recovery orientated approaches.
- Promote responsiveness to the needs and concerns of participants’ families and carers.
- Support the work of team members with people experiencing crisis and psychological distress in ways that maximise opportunities for engagement.
- Facilitate skill development and knowledge sharing through the identification of skill gaps and facilitation of workshops, forums and access to relevant Communities of Practice.
- Provide regular performance reporting data across all key metrics.
- Supporting recruitment, leading and oversee a multidisciplinary team ensuring all members of the team have the necessary skills, support, and knowledge to carry out their role.
- Collaborate with and lead team members to improve their understanding of personal recovery and build capacity to deliver mental health services grounded in recovery oriented approaches.
- Lead, coach and develop team members with empathy, vision, humility, creativity, and integrity.
- Lead the team with high levels of emotional intelligence, understanding of trauma informed leadership principles and commitment to supporting a psychologically safe workplace and healthcare setting.
- Develop, review, and manage data for KPIs and other relevant outcome data to ensure regular feedback loop for service planning and improvement.
- Undertake regular review of new referrals and allocation of aligned work duties for effective intake, assessment, care planning and referral.
- Support development of procedures, policies and processes including financials and human resources, to deliver services and monitor and evaluate compliance and effectiveness.
- Coordinate and manage the administrative and operational organisational (partner) specific requirements such as payroll, mandatory training and scheduled activities and events, in close collaboration with the leadership team.
- Monitor and support individual team member performance and conduct annual reviews, against professional development goals.

About You:
You will:
Hold tertiary qualifications in relevant health discipline including Psychology, Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy:
- Nursing, Occupational Therapy: Professional Registration with AHPRA
- Social Work: Hold a degree qualification in Social Work and is eligible for membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW)
- Psychology: Full registration or eligibility for full registration as a Psychologist by the Psychology Board of Australia. Hold approved Supervisor status with AHPRA
- Have Minimum of 5 years’ experience managing teams in a mental health/related setting
- Have proven ability to lead, manage and motivate team members to thrive in their roles
- Have demonstrated commitment to the lived experience voice and ability to embed lived experience within models of care.
- Have alignment with a Culturally respectful approach that includes and strengthens all peoples, traditions, stories and Culture.
- Have demonstrated ability to lead and sustain system change and a vibrant, productive, and collegiate workplace culture.
- Have knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and its impact on the delivery of frontline services, practice, and risk management.
- Evidence of continuing professional development.
- Have experience with and be confident in using Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems.
- Completion of Intentional Peer Support Manager training, Organisational Readiness for Peer workforce training or other peer workforce related training is also desirable.

To be the successful candidate, you will also:
- meet the position requirements
- employment is subject to a Police check. Persons who have worked overseas may be required to obtain an international police check
- hold or be willing to obtain a NDIS Worker Screening check
- hold an Employee Working with Children Check valid for employment purposes
- hold Current Victorian Driver’s Licence and ability to drive a range of vehicles as required
- meet the mandatory COVID-19 vaccination requirements.
